It’s the first of the 2018 season of the award winning Promart festivals taking place on Sunday April 29th. This is the largest open air arts and crafts fair in the North West of England and after their winter break, the famous prom at Grange Over sands will be full of over 70 stalls of original artwork, sculpture, crafts, jewellery and more.
2018 is the 13th year of Promart which has continued to grow in size and attendance during this time. Promart will be held on the last Sunday of each month until September.
Far more than just stalls, this free to attend event has the backdrop of the delightful Victorian town of Grange over Sands behind it and views of Morecambe Bay in front. Wander and peruse the varied stalls and producers which this year include some of the Keswick Market traders too.
The architecture within Grange, fells surrounding it and light from Morecambe Bay has long been a place of inspiration for artists and this is shown in the amount of local talent seen at Promart. From paintings to sculpture and jewellery, the landscape is evident in many of the pieces.
Grange over Sands is a lovely place to spend a weekend with the nearby village of Cartmel also very much worth visiting. The choice of places to eat and drink in Cartmel makes it the ideal base when visiting Promart. Grange over Sands itself has some excellent cafes and restaurants and gastro pubs. Where to stay if coming from away? Bay Villa Bed & Breakfast on Main Street is a great choice. Lovely large rooms with views and delicious breakfasts. Rooms from £125 at weekends.
